The 8-week season is divided into two phases:
- Weeks 1β6: Dynamic Regular Season (Group Round-Robin + Weekly Promotion/Relegation).
- Weeks 7β8: Playoffs (Ranking Matches & Ultimate Knockout Stage).
π Phase 1: Dynamic Regular Season (Weeks 1β6)
The core mechanism is “Weekly Regrouping” and “Rolling Promotion/Relegation”.
- Round-Robin Rules: Each division of 16 players is split into 4 groups of 4 players. Each player competes against the other 3 in their group (3 matches total). All results are recorded in the OWTTA ranking system.
- Rolling Promotion/Relegation: At the end of each night, the following moves are triggered to maintain 16 players per division:
- Division A: The bottom player of each group (4 total) drops to Division B.
- Division B: The winners of each group (4 total) rise to Division A; the bottom players (4 total) drop to Division C.
- Division C: The winners of each group (4 total) rise to Division B.
- Reseeding Strategy: Before the next week starts, players are redistributed into 4 new groups using a Snake Draft based on their latest OWTTA points or recent performance. This ensures balanced groups and fresh matchups every week.
π Phase 2: Playoffs (Weeks 7β8)
After 6 weeks, player rankings are established for the final showdown.
- Week 7: Final Ranking & Qualification
- There is no standard promotion/relegation this week.
- Based on cumulative OWTTA points and overall performance, the Top 8 seeds in each division are determined for the final championship.
- Week 8: Ultimate Knockout Stage
- The Top 8 registered season players in each division compete in a 3-round knockout bracket.
- Quarter-finals: Seed 1 vs Seed 8, Seed 2 vs Seed 7, etc.
- Semi-finals & Finals: Winners advance to the championship match. Losers participate in placement matches to determine positions 3 through 8.
- For Non-Qualifiers: Players outside the Top 8 can enjoy social play or watch the finals to ensure everyone enjoys the final day. The season concludes with an awards ceremony the same night.
